Manchester United cleared to bring in ideal Ten Hag signing for bargain €70m
The Netherlands international rose to popularity during his time at Ajax, where he starred in the team that reached the Champions League semi-finals in 2019.
It’s not surprising that there’s talk of De Jong reuniting with his old boss, Erik ten Hag, who will take over at Manchester United next season.
El Chiringuito claims that the Red Devils are interested in the 24-year-old and that he is available for a very reasonable amount of €70 million this summer…
United would be wise to build around a midfielder like De Jong, who could play a key part in assisting Ten Hag in implementing his playing style and philosophy at Old Trafford.
Former MUFC star Luke Chadwick told CaughtOffside earlier this week that he would want to see De Jong join Ten Hag this summer.
“De Jong is a tremendously skilled player who seemed especially at home in Ten Hag’s Ajax team that reached the Champions League semi-finals a few years ago,” Chadwick remarked.
“He didn’t get off to a fast start at Barcelona, but I believe he’s developed with time.” He appears to be someone who will appease the fans – I believe United supporters will want to see him play the same type of football that he did so effectively at Ajax.
“De Jong is a wonderful ball passer, and I think Ten Hag would do well to create his midfield around someone like that.”
