When it came to his €100 million moves to Manchester City, Jack Grealish said it was “something I felt I couldn’t pass down.

“He has enjoyed every minute of what he describes as a “crazy few days” since his arrival at the Premier League club.

Grealish, an England player, signed the Premier League champions from Aston Villa for a British record sum just a few days ago, according to reports.

On Monday, the 25-year-old talked to the media after being introduced to the City faithful and formally debuted by the club.

Having made his City debut in the Community Shield on Saturday, Grealish had this to say about the past few days: “It has been a hectic few days.” It’s something I’ve never had the pleasure of experiencing before.

‘I’d lived and worked at Aston Villa my entire life. My experiences over the previous several days have been unique; I’d never been in a different changing room before, and I’ve thoroughly liked every minute of it.

‘It was unquestionably one of the most difficult decisions I’ve ever had to make. When I was given the opportunity to play in the Champions League and win trophies, it was something I felt I couldn’t pass up.

In addition, the opportunity to play alongside Kevin De Bruyne and under Pep Guardiola, who is regarded as the best manager in the world, played a significant role in Grealish’s decision. Grealish has been given the number 10 shirt at the Etihad Stadium, which was recently vacated by the club’s all-time leading goalscorer Sergio Aguero following his move to Barcelona.

According to Grealish, “getting the number 10 shirt was an incredible sensation.” I was telling my family and my agency how badly I wanted it and how much I wished I could have it.

‘It’s a tremendous responsibility to fill Sergio’s shoes, but I believe I can put on that shirt and perform well in it. It just goes to show how much the club appreciates me by giving me that shirt.” Having played for his hometown club since he was a boy, Grealish said that leaving was difficult.

‘It was quite difficult,’ he remarked. The entire world watched how (Lionel) Messi was yesterday (at Barcelona) – and that is precisely how I felt at the time.

‘Before I left the hotel, I spoke with the team, the staff, and the players, and I had a few tears in my eyes as well.

‘However, I felt that it was past time for me to move on.” Grealish says, “I’ve always mentioned how much I want to play Champions League football.” He acknowledges that Villa will always hold a special place in his heart, but is now moving forward.

‘I’ve been a supporter of Aston Villa since I was four years old. I started going to the club when I was six years old.

Especially with my large family, where everyone is a fan of Aston Villa, there will always be a connection there.

After all, is said and done, I’m now a City player and will concentrate on achieving success in this environment. “I’ve come here to win silverware,’ Grealish says of the transfer price, which he does not consider to be a hardship.

‘It doesn’t place any pressure on me; rather, I accept it as a compliment,” he explained. It appeals to me, and it is a useful tag to have.

‘When you see a club paying you that much money, it implies they have faith in you and regard you highly; they see so much promise in you that they want to collaborate with you.’
