Following two frustrating defeats to Bayern Munich and Galatasaray in their opening group matches, which currently place Erik ten Hag’s squad at the bottom of Group A, Tuesday night’s clash at Old Trafford offers a chance to finally secure three crucial points against the Danish opponents.

In the lead-up to this crucial match, the return to training of one of United’s often-overlooked players has garnered attention.

Dutch left-back Tyrell Malacia, who has yet to make an appearance this season, was spotted engaging in individual ball work separate from the main group.

Previously, United had issued a brief update on Malacia, describing him as a long-term absentee due to a nagging knee injury.

The situation was reportedly aggravated by an injury he sustained last season, which ultimately necessitated surgery.

Initially, the club had attempted to manage the issue with pain injections but later concluded that surgical intervention was unavoidable.

In the aftermath of the surgery, Malacia spent a period of recovery while relying on crutches in his native Netherlands.

Additionally, fellow left-back Sergio Reguillon is currently undergoing a late fitness assessment to determine his availability for the match against Copenhagen.

Ten Hag discussed this on Monday, stating, “Yes, we hope to have players returning from injury. Sergio trained throughout the week, and today he will continue training.

We will assess whether he is match fit and available for the squad.”

However, Ten Hag unintentionally created a bit of confusion among fans when discussing Reguillon. Some listeners mistook his mention of “Sergio” for “Sancho,” causing a moment of bewilderment.
