Man Utd takeover: Four changes have already been made as Sheikh Jassim nears purchase

Manchester United takeover: Sheikh Jassim is in pole position to buy the club this summer.

As things stand, Sheikh Jassim appears to be the frontrunner to purchase Manchester United. Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s own proposal appears to be ‘dead in the water,’ which benefits his competitor. And it appears that the unknown guy will gain authority at Old Trafford sooner rather than later…

The Glazers have yet to declare their plans, having stated in November that they were open to packing their belongings and leaving the club.

However, all indications lead to Sheikh Jassim appearing at Old Trafford this summer.

The Qatari camp is growing in confidence that they will succeed in their ambition to buy United, having presented five bids for the club thus far.

The chatter around Ratcliffe, on the other hand, appears to be less negative than ever.

So, with Sheikh Jassim appearing to be the frontrunner, Express Sport looks at four ways the club has altered since the end of last season.

Carrington building

Images captured at the end of May showed work being done on the club’s Carrington training complex.

Pictures revealed a crane there, indicating that the Academy Centre is being renovated in preparation for the next campaign.

And with United eager to modernize things behind the scenes, this bodes well.

Cristiano Ronaldo publicly complained about the status of Carrington last year, claiming that nothing had changed since his first spell in Manchester.

The Red Devils, on the other hand, have been enhancing facilities ever since, and have moved to increase the ante now that the structure is no longer in use.

New housewares

United have unveiled their new home kit for the upcoming season, ahead of the prospective Sheikh Jassim era.

They did not, however, have the smoothest of launches.

For starters, rapper Aitch decided to wear the shirt for all to see at the Glastonbury festival.

Second, fans demonstrated outside the United megastore on the day the strip went on sale.

Regardless of who owns the club, United will wear a different shirt than the one worn last year under Erik ten Hag.

One new signing is nearly complete.

United supporters have been pleading for new recruits.

And it appears that they will have their way, with Mason Mount on the verge of relocating to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils have negotiated a £60 million fee for the England international, who will have a physical on Monday.

Despite the fact that the Americans are set to leave, the Glazers have approved the agreement.

It remains to be seen whether Sheikh Jassim will be allowed to spend some of his money on reinforcements this summer.

Players who have left United have already left ahead of the upcoming season.

Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe have left the club after failing to live up to their full potential.

In addition, Zidane Iqbal has been granted permission to join FC Utrecht, while Wout Weghorst and Marcel Sabitzer have returned to Burnley and Bayern Munich, respectively.

More players may be let go ahead of the Sheikh Jassim era.

Several players, including Jadon Sancho, Anthony Martial, Harry Maguire, Scott McTominay, and Fred, could go to raise finances for another summer shopping spree.
