Christian Eriksen, the new man at Manchester United, has described how Erik ten Hag influenced his decision to transfer to Old Trafford.
Erik ten Hag was very significant in Christian Eriksen’s choice to join Manchester United, and he believes his style of play will fit well with the Dutchman’s side.
Eriksen became United’s second signing of the summer after landing the in-demand playmaker on a free transfer. The Dane left Brentford at the end of his contract after making an incredible comeback with the Bees just a few months after suffering a heart collapse on the pitch during Euro 2020.
Despite the turbulence, Eriksen showed that he is still more than capable of playing at the highest level with a succession of superb performances that helped seal Brentford’s position in the Premier League. Despite the fact that returning to England was never in his plans before the incident, the 30-year-old is content to be a United player.
“I think from my career path before to the Euros, the plan was not to go back to the UK at all,” he told United’s internal media. “I thought my time to see Manchester United had passed! Obviously, I was at Spurs before moving to Italy, but being here is absolutely something I didn’t expect, but I’m also really glad to be here. It feels wonderful to be here, it feels good to be here.”
Eriksen went on to explain how Ten Hag persuaded him to choose United above other clubs. When asked how significant the management was in his decision, he said, “Very.” “I want to come here to play football; I don’t want to come here just to look at the logo; I want to come here to play.
“Obviously, speaking with the manager and hearing his thoughts and having chats on football terms was fantastic and excellent for me to get the choice and the chance of coming to Manchester United.
“I’m a guy who wants to play football, and I believe that with the manager coming in and his ideas, as well as my chats with him, I could see myself playing football in Manchester. At the same time, it’s a very large club, if not the largest.
