This season, Dalot has been Erik ten Hag’s first-choice right-back instead of Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Indeed, the latter has not been well received. As a result, he could go in January, putting Manchester United in need of someone to split duties with Dalot.

They have a few options to examine. We looked at five players they’ve been linked with who may replace Wan-Bissaka last month.

Malo Gusto was one of the names mentioned. According to reports, Manchester United was interested in the Lyon player during the summer and could renew their pursuit.

Despite rumors regarding other candidates such as Denzel Dumfries and Jeremie Frimpong, it appears to be the case.

According to Media Foot, Manchester United may make a deal for Gusto soon. In reality, their board of directors has agreed on a value for their bid of roughly €30 million (£26.4 million).

The 19-year-old, who has started 14 Ligue 1 games this season as a conventional full-back or wing-back, has established himself as “one of the priorities” for Manchester United.

The Premier League club can take heart from his present club’s position. Lyon’s deal with Gusto expires in 2024, and the club is aware that the player may try to leave.

Lyon has decided to listen to proposals with this in mind. According to the source, anything above €30 million will pique their interest, thus Man Utd aren’t far off in their predictions of Gusto’s worth.

Man United could put their trust in Malo Gusto.
They would then have to persuade the player that the transfer would be beneficial to his career. Man United’s interest in a teenager with just over 50 senior appearances must certainly be worth considering.

Gusto would face fresh challenges if he were to move to the Premier League. As a France under-21 international gaining experience in the sport, he would have to make the most of it as the next step in his career.

Man United appears to have faith in him, therefore it will be up to him to justify that.

Perhaps, due to his age, the entrance of Gusto would not force Dalot to relinquish his position as his first choice. But it may be a good method of preparing ahead, especially given the Portugal international is nearing the conclusion of his current deal at Old Trafford.

What is evident is that Wan-Bissaka requires a fresh start elsewhere, and Manchester United is planning to replace him as soon as possible. Gusto could be their man.
