Palmeiras manager Abel Ferreira has slammed Erik ten Hag for stating that Manchester United’s fixture schedule played a role in Marcus Rashford’s injury against Everton over the weekend. The in-form Red Devils striker limped off in the dying minutes of his team’s two-goal victory at Old Trafford, leaving United’s medical staff concerned about his condition ahead of this week’s Europa League quarter-final clash with Sevilla.

Ten Hag expressed his dissatisfaction with United being scheduled for the early kick-off despite having played Brentford just three days earlier, claiming that the intensity of the club’s fixture schedule may have played a role in shaping Rashford’s latest setback against Everton.

“It’s too much, especially after playing last Sunday night and then the first game on Saturday,” Ten Hag added. “You have to make the game against Brentford in the week instead of the Carabao Cup.” So you get punished for making it to the final, which is not acceptable.
