Manchester United fans on Twitter have managed to make the phrase ‘purchase Manchester United’ trend on the social media site in the United Kingdom by pleading with Elon Musk to buy the club from the Glazers. The 50-year-old billionaire recently sealed a lucrative £35 billion agreement to acquire the app, and Musk has now hinted that Coca-Cola is next on his hit list…

It has spurred United fans to demand that he acquire their club, as they appear to see a change in ownership as their path back to the top.

“Can you also buy Manchester United FC and put a competent team back in?” tweeted James Melville (@JamesMelville).

Another user (@Yungtambi1) commented: “Elon Musk (@elonmusk) Could you please purchase the Manchester United football club? We’d need someone like you who truly cared about how well a business is going if our top club turned into a wreck.”

A third user (@ Indianbeast6) stated: “Mr. Elon Musk, could you possibly purchase Manchester United? Our current owners are swindlers who are destroying our magnificent football club. #pleasesaveus”

Protests against Glazers have occurred as recently as last week when approximately 1000 people forced the club’s megastore to close ahead of the 3-2 home win against Norwich.

A group named ‘The 1958’ organized the protest, which saw a number of United fans descend on the stadium’s Munich tunnel, where the protest was brought to a halt.

Meanwhile, Musk, who has 87 million Twitter followers, has teased his next investment.

In response to a bogus tweet that said, “Now I’m going to buy McDonald’s and fix all of the ice cream machines,” he wrote, “Listen, I can’t do miracles, okay.”

Musk also recently lost an attempt to get out of an agreement that forces him to regulate his tweets about his vehicle company, Tesla.

It comes after he previously stated that he has “financing secured” to take Tesla private in the future.

He also hopes to make Twitter a free-speech-friendly atmosphere.

“Free expression is critical to a functioning democracy,” Musk said on Twitter.
