According to talkSPORT, Manchester United are ‘on the verge of acquiring Atletico Madrid midfielder Matheus Cunha, with their sluggish start to the season forcing their hand in the transfer market.

The Brazilian, 23, was just signed by Atletico last summer after moving from Hertha Berlin, and he previously played for former United manager Ralf Rangnick at RB Leipzig. Cunha’s name was mentioned when the German was filling in temporarily, and interest has continued.

According to the source, Atletico Madrid is demanding £42 million to let Cunha leave, despite the Brazilian scoring six goals in 29 La Liga games last season. Cunha is a dynamic attacker who can also play in midfield, and he is well-liked off the field by his girlfriend, who attends games at the Wanda Metropolitano on a regular basis.

Cunha is dating her Brazilian sweetheart Gabriela Nogueira, a lawyer from Rio de Janeiro. His fiancée has followed him throughout his footballing endeavors, and she frequently publishes images on social media of herself watching her boyfriend from the stands.

Cunha’s viewing enjoyment is likely to be diminished if she joins United, given Atletico made a winning start to their La Liga season on Monday, while United sit at the bottom of the Premier League. Atletico Madrid defeated Getafe 3-0 thanks to a brace from Alvaro Morata and a late Antoine Griezmann goal.

Cunha was part of the team that started off on the right foot, but it’s unclear whether he’ll stay with Atletico. United is no longer as appealing as it once was, but it is predicted that the tide will change at some point.

Erik ten Hag’s first two Premier League matches as manager of Manchester United have been a nightmare. The Red Devils were last on zero points after their first two games of the season in 1992.

They went on to win the league that season, but even the most hopeful fans aren’t expecting that. They have yet to score a goal of their own this season, as Alexis Mac Allister’s own goal is the only time the ball has found the back of the net for the Red Devils.

Cunha, on the other hand, is being identified as the man who can change things, and the Brazilian and his girlfriend could be in Manchester shortly. Direct conversations are being undertaken with Atletico, and Cunha is said to be interested since it could increase his chances of joining the Brazil squad with the World Cup coming.
