Manchester United will play Rayo Vallecano in their final pre-season friendly on Sunday at Old Trafford. The United team is primarily second-string after a first-team squad was defeated 1-0 by Atletico Madrid in Oslo on Saturday, but Cristiano Ronaldo returns to action.
The striker missed all of Erik ten Hag’s first games in command due to his desire to leave the club during the summer transfer window, but he returned to training this week and confirmed on Instagram that he will be playing against the La Liga side.
New signees Raphael Varane is the captain, and Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez both start. Alejandro Garnacho also sees action. The match marks United’s final warm-up before the start of the Premier League season against Brighton next Saturday.
