Martial, 26, has been with United since 2015, when he arrived from Monaco.

However, after struggling to find consistent form, the 26-year-old was loaned out to Spanish side Sevilla in the middle of the season.

Despite being seen hobbling off with an injury during the weekend’s match against Espanyol, Martial’s start to life at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium has been excellent.

With four appearances under his belt, the France international has already personally contributed to two goals, including his first against Elche ten days ago.

However, despite being likely to return to Old Trafford after the current season concludes, new rumors imply Martial’s long-term future is far from guaranteed.

With Inter Milan rumored to be interested in signing the French forward on a permanent basis, the Red Devils could face a commercial dilemma in a matter of months.

Sanchez, 33, joined the Nerazzurri from Manchester United two years ago and currently earns close to £6 million (€7 million) a year – an outgoing the Serie A champions are trying to reduce.

Following Jadon Sancho’s outstanding form, and with Marcus Rashford and others waiting in the wings, it is unlikely that Martial will return to Old Trafford as a first-team starter.

However, there is an elephant in the room, and that is Mason Greenwood’s ongoing legal predicament.

Greenwood is still out of the United team after his arrest earlier this month, and while it is unclear what will happen to the young striker if the Englishman finds his career outside of football, Martial might be given an improbable second chance.

If Greenwood does return to action, Martial’s name will drop even further down the Red Devils’ pecking order, and it’s difficult to picture the Red Devils’ hierarchy turning down a bid from abroad.
