The Premier League team has announced that it is not currently taking action against a player arrested on suspicion of rape.

The unnamed athlete was arrested in Barnet on July 4 on rape claims made against a lady in her twenties in June.

He was arrested again while in detention on suspicion of raping a different lady between April and June 2021.

The 29-year-old rejects the accusations and has been released on bail until August.

“We are aware of the allegations, which are presently the subject of a police investigation,” the club, which has not been named, said in a statement.

“We have confirmed that the athlete denies the charges and is being held in police custody pending the conclusion of their investigations.” There have been no charges filed, and the player is free to carry out his professional obligations, including permitted travel.

“We take our duties and responsibilities seriously and have adhered to our safety standards and procedures.”

“We will carefully study this subject and will revisit it if circumstances change.”
