Erik ten Hag gave Netherlands international Weghorst another start at Saint James’ Park, but he was absolutely unproductive, joining a number of his colleagues in a dismal performance on Tyneside.

Newcastle’s victory moved them over United into third place in the rankings, while Weghorst is yet to score in nine Premier League outings for the club.

Furthermore, on his blog, TV host Richard Keys expressed his thoughts on the future, dubbing him “Nout Workhorse.”

“I agree that they’ve made progress,” Keys remarked, “but this isn’t a title-winning team.” They’ll never win a championship with Nout Workhorse on the team.

“Really, why do they play him? His fans say he’s doing something right because he’s starting games. Really? So, what exactly is it?

“And don’t tell me he’s a ‘pressing monster,’ or that he’s a starter of the backward press,’ whatever that is.

“Ten Hag explained his plans to sign him permanently last week by telling us that Workhorse ‘creates space for players.'”

“I’ll tell you what, if he wasn’t on the field, he’d make more room.”

“The bottom line is that he’s a mediocre center-forward who doesn’t score goals and isn’t talented enough to play for Manchester United.”

“Every time Ten Hag talks about him, he seems like a desperate guy attempting to defend a mistake.”

Fernandes was also hauled to the cleaners.
Keys also chastised United captain Bruno Fernandes for his role in the defeat.

“A couple of other things from that game – Fernandes remains the most aggravating player in the Premier League,” he continued (Premier League).

“Forget applauding the traveling support; cut the acting, stay on your feet, and try to influence games that way.”

“I’m glad to see that officials finally have a handle on him.” They know he’s trying to scam them if he goes over in the box.”

United returns to Premier League action on Wednesday night when they host Brentford.
