Barcelona has had a rough year, losing Lionel Messi on free agency and suffering early this season under former manager Ronald Koeman.

However, when Koeman was removed from his duties and Xavi returned to take command, they’ve begun to regain their mojo.

Barcelona spent big in January, bringing in big names like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ferran Torres to bolster their assault.

And Sunday’s thrilling 4-0 success against Real Madrid suggests the Catalan giants are on the rise, even if Xavi is hesitant to get carried away.

Lewandowski’s future at Bayern Munich is presently uncertain.

The Poland international has a year remaining on his contract at the Allianz Arena and has yet to sign an extension.

And, according to Catalan tabloid Sport, Barcelona is planning to offer Lewandowski a four-year contract in order to get him to La Liga this summer.

Despite entering his twilight years, the 33-year-old is still at the top of his game, with 31 league goals from 27 appearances.

He’s also leading their charge for Champions League glory, having scored 12 goals in eight matches.

According to the publication, Barcelona believes Lewandowski can continue this level of performance for two years but wants him to stay for four because of his professionalism.

They’re preparing to transfer Aubameyang to the wing, where he’s been playing since joining from Arsenal in January.

A deal with Lewandowski is said to be ‘not an issue,’ with Barcelona president Joan Laporta having a good relationship with the striker’s agent, Pini Zahavi.

Barcelona sees the Bayern striker as a marketable asset, which they have lacked since Messi’s move to PSG in the summer.

It remains to be seen whether they will be able to acquire him.

Barcelona has also been connected with AC Milan’s Franck Kessie, who is due to depart the San Siro this summer on a free transfer.

Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta of Chelsea are also being investigated.

“Robert Lewandowski’s future status is entirely open,” Fabrizio Romano recently stated on Lewandowski’s future.

“He’s focused on the second half of the season with Bayern, but his current contract expires in 2023, and he wants to stay.”

“There have been no conversations between Bayern and his agent, therefore Lewandowski is still waiting.”

Meanwhile, Xavi praised his team’s performance following their thrilling win over Real Madrid earlier this week.

“We played a very comprehensive match, far superior to Madrid,” he remarked.

“The high pressure was extremely good, with Aubameyang and Pedri both contributing significantly.”

“We knew how to play against them; we created numerous opportunities, we knew how to attack them, and we played a fantastic game.”

“They attacked us in the last 20 minutes, but that’s to be expected when you’re 4 goals up.”

When asked if Barcelona is “back,” he replied, “Perhaps yeah, Barca is back, but I’ll leave it up to you.”

“This is the right game idea for Barcelona to compete; we have extremely talented technical players who didn’t comprehend the model well before, but now they do.”

“Run, work, and assist the team.” Solidarity.”
