Manchester United may have the upper hand in acquiring Napoli attacker Victor Osimhen this summer, according to Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth.
The Red Devils are expected to spend money on a center-forward at the conclusion of the season, and Osimhen is one of the top possibilities on their wishlist.
Sheth told GIVEMESPORT that United could have the upper hand in luring Osimhen, who has stated his desire to play in the Premier League.
“It should be noted that Victor Osimhen has previously stated that one of his dreams is to play in the Premier League, and he is working hard to achieve that dream,” he said. If that is so, Manchester United may have an advantage over another European team in seeking to sign someone like Victor Osimhen.”
United have enjoyed a productive season under manager Erik Ten Hag, although they remain behind their primary opponents in the center-forward position.
Marcus Rashford has been superb from the left flank this season, scoring 28 goals, but he has received little help from the attackers in the squad.
Anthony Martial has only scored seven goals this season and has spent the majority of the season in the treatment room due to a slew of injuries.
Wout Weghorst was thought a solution after joining on loan from Burnley in the middle of the season, but the Dutchman has appeared out of sorts with only two goals so far.
United definitely wants an elite performer up front, and Osimhen may be the answer.
The £88 million star has been fantastic for Napoli, scoring 26 goals in 31 appearances. With his work rate and solid presence in the box, he would be an ideal match for Ten Hag.
In the final third, the Nigerian star also likes to press opponents. As Sheth mentioned, United may have an advantage in the transfer market due to Osimhen’s Premier League ambitions.
