Step forth, Toon. Henderson’s pursuit

Newcastle United are interested in signing Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson this summer and has upped their pursuit of the Old Trafford stopper ahead of the transfer window opening.

 

The Magpies have stepped up their chase of the 25-year-old, according to a print edition of the Sunday Mirror, and are hopeful of concluding a deal that would bring him to the northeast in the coming months.

 

Toon manager Eddie Howe is said to be interested in signing a new goalkeeper to replace current number one Martin Dubravka, and Henderson is seen as the ideal successor for the Slovakian international.

 

Any deal for Henderson, though, would not be cheap, with the Daily Star stating that United are wanting a fee of roughly £40 million.

 

De Jong is considering a move to City.

Barcelona player Frenkie de Jong is reportedly willing to forfeit around £6 million in outstanding salary in order to join Manchester City rather than Manchester United this summer.

 

The Netherlands international has been extensively connected with a move to Old Trafford since it was announced that Erik ten Hag would join the club at the conclusion of the season, with the pair previously working together at Ajax.

 

However, according to The Sun, de Jong would prefer a move to the Etihad and is even willing to forego a large pay cut to make it happen.

 

The 25-year-old is thought to earn roughly £400,000 per week after tax and was one of a handful of Barcelona players who offered a considerable portion of their income during the height of the pandemic to assist alleviate the club’s financial constraints.

 

However, it is now reported that de Jong is willing to walk away from the money owing to him totally if it means joining City this summer.

 

United is interested in signing Kante.

According to The Mirror, Manchester United is planning a surprise deal for Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante.
