Enough is enough, SACK him immediately – Joel Glazer given final say on Erik ten Hag sacking after changing Man Utd plans
Joel Glazer will wield the decisive authority in determining whether Erik ten Hag faces dismissal if Manchester United experiences a third consecutive defeat, especially against Liverpool this Sunday.
The pressure on the Dutchman intensified after the abrupt Champions League exit, with a 1-0 loss to Bayern Munich on Tuesday, leaving United at the bottom of their group with four points from six matches.
The preceding 3-0 thrashing by Bournemouth in the Premier League added to United’s woes, making it 12 losses out of 24 games this season.
As per the Manchester Evening News, football director John Murtough has no intention of dismissing Ten Hag, and interim chief executive Patrick Stewart lacks the authority to make such a decision.
However, the report suggests that Joel Glazer holds the ultimate say in Ten Hag’s future until Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s 25% stake is officially ratified.
Ratcliffe aims to finalize a £1.25 billion deal for United before Christmas, gaining control of the club’s football operations.
Ten Hag’s past struggles at Anfield compound the challenge, with United failing to win any of their last eight trips, including last season’s painful 7-0 defeat.
In another development, United is reportedly unlikely to trigger the one-year extension in Anthony Martial’s contract, making him a free agent in the summer.
Despite potential fan approval for this decision, Glazer, known to be a fan of Martial, had previously intervened to retain the French international during Jose Mourinho’s tenure.
Following the recent defeat against Bournemouth, Ten Hag defended Martial, deeming the criticism unfair and emphasizing the collective responsibility of the group for the performance.
