Erik Ten Hag’s defense, which has been plagued by injuries, is about to receive another boost with the potential return of his first-choice right-back, considering the start of the season.

However, this development presents a dilemma.

Wan-Bissaka started in United’s first four games of the season but was subsequently benched for Diogo Dalot in a 3-1 loss to Brighton and Hove Albion.

During a brief substitute appearance at Old Trafford, he suffered a hamstring injury and has been absent since the September 16 clash.

Dalot has started the following eight games during Wan-Bissaka’s recovery and has been one of the bright spots in a somewhat disappointing campaign for United so far.

As fixtures come thick and fast, Ten Hag faces a challenging decision with Wan-Bissaka’s imminent return.

According to the Mail, the 25-year-old has taken significant steps toward returning to the pitch by resuming training at Carrington.

The report suggests that if the final stages of his recovery proceed as planned, Wan-Bissaka could be available by the end of next week, potentially eyeing next Saturday’s Premier League game against Fulham at Craven Cottage as his comeback opportunity.

However, with intense matches against Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday and a Carabao Cup fourth-round tie against Newcastle United on Wednesday, it’s likely that both games are too soon to risk a potential aggravation of his hamstring problem by throwing him back into the action.

For now, Dalot’s position as a certain starter remains secure. Still, Ten Hag is sure to face questions about whether he will reinstate Wan-Bissaka as his preferred right-back in the near future.
