United only played two Premier League matches in September due to postponements caused by The Queen’s death and funeral. They came against Leicester City and Arsenal, with Rashford playing a major role in both victories.

Rashford scored twice and assisted in both games against Arsenal. Rashford has earned the Player of the Month award twice in his career, most recently in January of this year.

Rashford’s return to form has been a significant boost for United after the 46-cap England international only scored five goals in all competitions last season, as the team finished sixth and missed out on Champions League qualification.

Rashford posted to Instagram after receiving the Premier League trophy to thank his teammates. In a message to his 12.8 million Instagram followers, he said: “I’m honored to be named Premier League Player of the Month… Thank you to my teammates and the entire crew for making this happen.”

Rashford missed the Europa League games against Real Sociedad and FC Sheriff due to injury, despite having a great impression against Leicester and Arsenal. Rashford, on the other hand, is ready to face Manchester City after returning to Carrington from his muscular injury.

On Sunday afternoon, United and City will compete for Manchester bragging rights at the Etihad Stadium (2pm).
