Jermaine Jenas suggests that during the loss to Newcastle, Manchester United players were attempting to convey a message to manager Erik ten Hag.

The team’s defeat, marked by Anthony Gordon’s second-half goal, drew criticism for lackluster performances from Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.

Ally McCoist, a commentator for TNT Sports, described their displays as “very poor.”

Following the defeat, Jenas observed signs of player discontent with Ten Hag’s tactics.

He commented, “The body language of a team tells you a lot at times, and there were a few of them that were sending a message to the manager.”

Jenas specifically pointed out Rashford’s demeanor, suggesting dissatisfaction with his position on the right side.

He highlighted instances of inadequate tracking back and defensive lapses, expressing concerns about the players’ level of respect on the pitch.

Ten Hag plans to address Rashford’s form in private talks rather than through the media. Despite Jenas questioning the manager’s tactics, McCoist emphasizes that players must take responsibility when on the field.

McCoist believes it is not about letting the manager down but representing oneself, family, and supporters.

Jenas acknowledges that players need to contribute more, criticizing Rashford’s body language and actions that seem to convey a message of discontent.

He views such behavior as detrimental, putting the team under unnecessary pressure by neglecting defensive responsibilities as a wide player.
