Real Madrid is apparently ready to offload Marco Asensio this summer and is eager to split ways with the Spaniard for €30 million.

According to a report from the Spanish daily El Gol Digital, Real Madrid has chosen to part ways with Spanish winger Marco Asensio during the current transfer window in order to trim their roster.

In the summer of 2015, Asensio joined Real Madrid from his boyhood club Mallorca. Due to the long loan spell with Spanish club Espanyol, the 25-year-old was gradually brought into the first-team at the Santiago Bernabeu, and the winger rapidly became a major hit at the club, swiftly becoming a fixture in the starting XI.

However, a catastrophic injury in the summer of 2019 significantly slowed his pace, as he spent a large amount of time on the sidelines. Since returning to action, Asensio has looked way below his best and had a disappointing season last time out, scoring seven goals and assisting two, although participating in 48 games across all competitions.

While there were occasional glimpses of brilliance, Asensio struggled to achieve the performance levels anticipated of him, which culminated in him being left out of Spain’s squad for the UEFA Euro 2020. And, as the new season begins, the 25-year-old could be on the verge of leaving the Bernabeu.

Real Madrid currently has a plethora of options on the right-wing, with Gareth Bale and Takefusa Kubo returning from loan spells to join the likes of Asensio, Rodrygo Goes, and Lucas Vazquez. With no takers for Bale this summer, Los Blancos will be compelled to keep him, despite the fact that Vazquez has recently signed a new contract.

Given their financial circumstances, a sale this summer would be appropriate.  it appears that Real Madrid has decided to move Asensio out of the club because, according to the report, the club believes he will be unable to regain his best form following the impact of the injury.

While carrying out his professional duty with his Country on Olympics, there is a belief that his price will continue to fall, which is why Real Madrid is now willing to do business for a sum of €30 million, with Athletic Bilbao also showing interest. Asensio, for one, has stated unequivocally that he will not be traveling this summer. So it will be interesting to observe how this narrative evolves in the next weeks.
