Among the players, the Argentine has emerged as the favorite to become the next permanent manager at Old Trafford. Interim coach Ralf Rangnick, on the other hand, is thought to favor a transfer for Ajax’s Erik Ten Hag.

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is said to be interested in the job and is due to leave PSG in the summer.

The 51-year-old has already scouted United’s team and hopes to reconnect with Kane in the Premier League.

Old Trafford officials have previously considered trying to sign England captain Joe Hart, only to be priced out of a possible deal.

Pochettino, according to the Daily Telegraph, would demand that the 28-year-old be named United’s new No.9 if he completes his own move to Old Trafford.

Edinson Cavani, United’s senior forward, is slated to leave in the summer. Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at the club is also in danger, with sources claiming that he is becoming increasingly upset by United’s poor form.

While Kane is unlikely to fetch the £100 million-plus fee that kept Manchester City from signing him, Daniel Levy is anticipated to cut a hard bargain if the player decides to go this summer.
