Not Mount – Bruno Fernandes names the biggest problem Man United had in Tottenham defeat

Bruno Fernandes believes Manchester United were wasteful in front of goal in their 2-0 loss to Tottenham on Saturday evening, and he admits he could have scored his free header earlier in the game.

Erik ten Hag picked an unchanged team for the game, and it was an opportunity for those players to improve on their poor performance in the win over the Wolves, and both sides had chances in the first half.

United were denied a clear penalty after Alejandro Garnacho’s shot in the 27th minute struck Cristian Romero’s extended arm, but Spurs came close to taking the lead twice before the break, hitting the crossbar twice.

The game was scoreless at halftime, and Tottenham broke the deadlock immediately after play resumed. After a deflected pass, Pape Sarr reached the back of the net, and the lead was increased in the 82nd minute.

Ben Davies’ effort found the back of the net, and goalie Andre Onana, who was credited, became visibly irritated.

After the game, Fernandes spoke to MUTV about squandering his own big chance, which was the team’s best of the game.

“We didn’t take our chances,” he admitted. “We had a lot of chances to score goals, and I had a big one that I needed to score.” I had to find a method to score that header since we didn’t [score] and the game was difficult when we conceded a goal early in the second half.

“We hit the post, we had more counter-attacking chances that we could have done better within the final moments, but today, unlike against Wolves, we played much more football, we created more chances, but we weren’t ruthless enough.”

“We didn’t score any goals or earn any points.” I focused too much on the goalkeeper instead of the ball, and my movement was too swift, therefore I didn’t get the ball as well as I should have.

“Either way, I have to get that header onto the target.”
