Fabrizio Romano – Man Utd and Liverpool suffer major transfer blow with target set to follow ‘Haaland plan’

According to reports, Manchester United and Liverpool target Youssoufa Moukoko is in talks to stay at Borussia Dortmund.

The 18-year-old has been regarded as one of the top prospects in world football for at least the last couple of years, but his performances this season have taken him to a new level.

Moukoko has been Dortmund’s leading scorer this season, with six goals and three assists in 14 Bundesliga appearances.

He is the league’s leading scorer, and he has appeared in all six of the club’s Champions League games this season.

His performance earned him a call-up to Germany for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where he could add to the one senior international cap he earned earlier this year.

Meanwhile, Dortmund is attempting to fend off interest in his services from other clubs, including Manchester United and Liverpool, as his contract expires next summer.

Moukoko is reportedly in talks to stay in Dortmund.
In recent months, Jurgen Klopp’s Reds have been linked with a move for the 18-year-old. Last month, Football Insider reported that Moukoko had signed with an English-based agency.

United, as well as German giants Bayern Munich, have been linked with the player. The striker refused to reveal anything about his future plans during a press conference in Qatar.

He stated: “I’m at ease in Dortmund, and I sense the coach’s confidence. You’ll find out whether I decide to stay or not in the end.”

However, prominent transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that Moukoko is in talks to stay at Signal Iduna Park rather than move to the Premier League or Bayern Munich and that he could follow the same strategy that the club used to sell Erling Haaland to Manchester City and Jadon Sancho to Manchester United.

Romano elaborated on his YouTube channel: “According to my sources, Bayern Munich and Youssoufa Moukoko are still in preliminary talks.

“The situation is still fluid. Moukoko is speaking with Borussia Dortmund because the club wants to extend his contract, possibly with the intention of selling him at the right time, as they did with Haaland, Sancho, and Jude Bellingham. So, with a very clear plan to sell him at the appropriate time.

“It’s up to Moukoko, but nothing has progressed with Bayern, and there are many clubs interested.”

Clubs from England, Spain, and Italy are also interested in the player, according to Romano, with Dortmund manager Edin Terzic playing a key role in contract negotiations.
