He is now expected to sit out this weekend as the Red Devils prepare for their upcoming fixture against Brighton and Hove Albion, as per a report by talkSPORT. Erik ten Hag is unwilling to take any risks with him and will only play him when he is fully fit to avoid making anything worse.

United landed the 27-year-old on an initial loan deal on deadline day. However, they hold an option to make his switch to England permanent at a later date.

Morocco manager Walid Regragui has provided this update on his situation: “Sofyan felt something. We let him go as a precaution because he has just started his new adventure with Manchester United.”

Amrabat will give the Red Devils more competition and depth in the middle of the park when he is fully recovered. He isn’t the only player out of action at the moment, with Luke Shaw, Raphael Varane, Mason Mount and Lisandro Martinez all in the treatment room.

The Holland-born man started his career with spells at FC Utrecht and Feyenoord before moving over to Belgium as a youngster in 2018 to join Club Brugge. He spent two years in the Pro League, part of which he spent out on loan at Hellas Verona, before heading out the exit door.

Fiorentina snapped him up in 2020 and he has since been a key player for them in Serie A. He has made 107 appearances in all competitions and has chipped in with a single goal, helping his parent club reach the Coppa Italia and Europa Conference League finals over recent years.
