Leon Osman, former Everton midfielder, was notably impressed by Youssef Chermiti’s brief appearance against Manchester United on Sunday.

Introduced in the 82nd minute when Everton trailed 3-0, the 19-year-old striker managed to make an impact, showcasing his threat with height and physicality.

Despite the game being almost decided at that point, Chermiti came close to making a significant contribution with a late effort.

Everton secured Chermiti’s services for £15 million from Sporting Lisbon in the recent summer transfer window.

While opportunities for the Portuguese forward have been limited, he demonstrated his potential in the cameo against Manchester United.

With only six first-team appearances to his name, Chermiti is a signing oriented toward the future. Although he has mostly served as a late substitute, his recent showing indicated confidence and enthusiasm.

Leon Osman, reporting for BBC Radio Five Live, acknowledged Chermiti’s promising display, stating, “We’ve seen flashes of Youssef Chermiti since he’s been at Everton.

That was nearly his best moment in a blue shirt.”

While his near miss would have been a consolation in the context of the match, scoring against Manchester United would have marked a special moment for the Portugal under-20 international, who is yet to find the net for Everton’s senior team.

As the season progresses, assuming Chermiti remains fit, he is likely to receive more opportunities off the bench.

Although there’s currently no significant pressure on the young striker, a continuation of such performances could prompt manager Sean Dyche to allocate more minutes.
