Former Ajax manager Erik ten Hag is expected to bring Timber to Old Trafford this summer. Last season, the teenager was a key member of Ten Hag’s Ajax squad, appearing in 43 games across all competitions as his club successfully defended their Eredivisie title.

The 20-year-old centre-back is versatile, as he can also play right-back, which will pique United’s interest given the club’s decision to trade Aaron Wan-Bissaka. De Ligt, who addressed his own future amid United interest over the weekend, has had firsthand experience with Timber’s characteristics.

While the two did not play for Ajax’s first team at the same time, they have collaborated with the Netherlands national team, including in Friday’s 4-1 victory over Belgium. When asked about Timber’s abilities, De Ligt was pleased by his quality and was eager to praise the United-linked youngster.

According to Metro, he added, “Jurrien Timber is pretty good.” “He’s done amazing for himself and Ajax this season, and I can only be thrilled for him.”

Timber is set to fly to Qatar for the World Cup this winter with the Netherlands. Last month, the kid won his second Dutch crown and contributed to an incredible 26 clean sheets across all competitions, one of which came against Erling Haaland’s Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.
