Manchester United’s Harry Maguire is reportedly ready to leave the club following his latest leadership snub.
According to The Sun, Maguire was unhappy after Erik ten Hag stripped him of the armband.
Chelsea is interested in signing him and he is pondering leaving Old Trafford.
Maguire resorted to social media yesterday to express his disappointment at losing his captaincy.
“It’s been a huge privilege to lead Manchester United since the day I took over three and a half years ago, and one of the proudest moments of my career to date.”
“I will always be grateful to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for first entrusting me with the responsibility, and I wish whoever takes it on success and my full support.”
Last season, the England star was not a regular in Ten Hag’s plans and was quickly replaced by Lisandro Martinez.
Other clubs interested in him include West Ham and Tottenham.
United’s asking price will most likely be reduced from €50 million to €30 million.
His pay could be a sticking issue in any future deal.
It’s difficult to envisage any team paying more than £200Kp/w for a player of his caliber.
Another possibility is to loan him out.
