Manchester United player ratings vs Liverpool as Jadon Sancho and Eric Bailly excellent
Man United defeated Liverpool in their first pre-season friendly of the summer in Bangkok’s Rajamangala Stadium, and here’s how the players fared.
De Gea, David
At 0-0, he made a superb save from Luis Diaz and came off his line twice, which is unusual for a goalie who has to adapt. 8
Dalot, Diogo
Loose at times against Diaz, but aggressive in attack and rattled the crossbar at 3-0.
Lindelof, Victor
Coolly defended and made several remarkable interceptions from crosses. 8
Varane, Raphael
He was pushed so high up the pitch that he won a throw-in in Liverpool’s third and solidly defended. 7
Shaw, Luke
After a disappointing season, he is very proactive and back to his best. Frequently involved in attacks. 7
McTominay, Scott
Particularly physical, probably even more so now that United is attempting to recruit Frenkie de Jong. 7
Fred
At 0-0, he wasted a fantastic chance but scored deftly with a lob over compatriot Alisson before being replaced at halftime. 8
Fernandes, Bruno
With his probing passes, he has accelerated assaults and is not wasteful in possession. 7
Sancho Jadon
Clinched a goal to put United ahead, combined well with Dalot, and created chances with his awareness on and off the ball. 9
Rashford, Marcus
After Sancho teed him up, he ran relentlessly and terrified Liverpool, but he mis-hit with the goal gaping. 6
Martial, Anthony
A flowing effort in which he began in the middle and advanced to the left before scoring beautifully from the right-hand channel. 8
Subs
Heaton, Tom
Darwin Nunez was denied shortly after entering.
Wan-Bissaka Aaron Wan-Bissaka
Liverpool targeted United down the left, so Wan-Bissaka had little defending to do and less willingness to attack during his half. 6
Bailly, Eric
As United came under siege, he came to the rescue several times, sparking the counter-attack that resulted in their fourth goal. 8
Telles, Alex
Never a left-back, never a centre-back. I made two mistakes in the first few minutes of the second half. 5
Malacia, Tyrell
Started out boldly, but was quickly taken off guard. 6
Savage, Charlie
A composed performance in the midfield alongside Zidane Iqbal. 6
Iqbal Zidane
A confident performance from the promising Iraq international, who seemed unfazed by his illustrious opponents. 7
Amad
A cynical foul denied him a potential goal run, but he worked well with Facundo Pellistri. 6
Van de Beek, Donny
Returned to the No.10 position but had little impact. 5
Pellistri, Facundo
Liverpool dominated possession for the majority of the second half, but came alive to score the fourth goal. 7
Elanga, Anthony
As a result, anonymity Ten Hag summoned him at one point during the game. 5
