These central defenders have played pivotal roles in Sporting’s impressive league campaign, leading the table with just a one-point margin over Benfica.

As per reports from Record, it appears that Sporting is proactively seeking new center-backs for the upcoming season, anticipating the departures of Diomande and Inacio.

The release clauses in their contracts stand at €80 million and €60 million, respectively.

The record highlights that Manchester United is among the clubs that have been consistently monitoring the progress of these highly-rated defensive talents, attending Sporting matches with a keen eye.

United’s Priority: Signing Diomande
With the likelihood of investing in at least one central defender this summer, especially with Raphael Varane’s potential departure, United faces decisions on reinforcements.

Varane’s contract expires on June 30, and the club has refrained from triggering an extension clause, making his renewal doubtful unless a significant wage cut is accepted.

In this scenario, Diomande emerges as an appealing option. The 20-year-old right-sided center-back showcases impressive attributes as a strong ball-playing defender who actively engages in challenges.

His passing accuracy for the term stands at an impressive 91%, while he averages 1.5 tackles per game and wins 64% of his duels.

Notably strong in aerial challenges, Diomande boasts a 72% success rate in this aspect and makes 5.7 ball recoveries per outing.

These qualities position him as a player with the potential to reach elite status.

In our perspective, Diomande presents a more promising investment over Inacio, who, being left-footed, might be viewed as a backup option, especially with Lisandro Martinez being an undisputed starter when fit.

Additionally, Inacio’s performance in the air and in tackles is comparatively less effective, making Diomande a clearer and more suitable choice for Manchester United.
