Ronaldo, 37, returned to Old Trafford last summer and has 14 goals in 24 appearances in his second stint with United.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner is under contract with United until 2023 (with an option to extend), but his future at the club has been called into question.

According to rumors, Ronaldo may want a transfer away from Manchester United if the club fails to qualify for the Champions League next season.

Isak has impressed Sociedad since joining the club in 2019 after leaving Borussia Dortmund, as well as during Sweden’s Euro 2020 campaign last summer.

Last season, the 22yearold Swedish striker was in excellent form for Sociedad, scoring 17 goals in 34 La Liga games.

However, Isak’s goal-scoring form has dipped in the current season, with the Sociedad star scoring four times in 18 league games.

After Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was deprived of his captaincy, the Sweden international was the focus of heated transfer rumors linking him to Arsenal.

According to the Daily Mirror, both Manchester United and Chelsea are interested in Arsenal target Isak.

On deadline day, Arsenal reportedly had a £58 million proposal rejected by Sociedad, who wanted the Gunners to match Isak’s £75 million release clause.

The former Dortmund striker has now been touted as a ‘possible successor for Cristiano Ronaldo should he leave in the summer,’ according to United.

However, if Romelu Lukaku is unable to regain his goalscoring form, the Red Devils may face competition from Chelsea ‘on the striker front.’

Arsenal will ‘also be in the running for Isak,’ according to Mikel Arteta, as he seeks a new striker with Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette expected to leave in the summer.

Isak is regarded as a possible replacement for Borussia Dortmund attacker Erling Haaland, who is in high demand from Europe’s top clubs.

Haaland, 21, is expected to depart Dortmund in the summer and has a £68 million release clause in his contract, with Barcelona and Real Madrid vying for his signature.

“I’m not referring to other clubs,” he said to Mundo Deportivo.

“I play for Real Madrid, I work here, and this is my club.” My work is on the pitch, and as I have stated, there are others who work outside.”

When asked about leaving Sociedad, Isak said, “You can never be sure of anything.”

“You never know what might happen in football,” he says, “but in the end, I’m here, happy, and nothing more.”
