Man Utd trio standing up to Erik ten Hag decision after five banished from dressing room

Erik ten Hag was forced to fire five Manchester United players from the club's AON Training Centre after making a handful of summer additions. Erik ten Hag was obliged to make some difficult decisions at Manchester United in September 2022. Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro, and Antony were among the newcomers brought in by the Red Devils' new manager. Ten Hag was obliged to make some harsh cuts in the first-team dressing room at the club's training camp due to an influx of newcomers. Because United's AON Training Centre only has place for 24 players in the changing room, Ten Hag had to choose five players to leave in order to accommodate his new arrivals. England international Phil Jones was one of the five players chosen, and the centre-back was kicked out of the first-team dressing room. Brandon Williams, a former Norwich loanee, was also released, as were defenders Axel Tuanzebe and Teden Mendi. Shola Shoretire was the last man to go. All five players were anticipated to leave as a result of the sacking, however only two left United. Tuanzebe signed a deadline-day loan agreement with Championship club Stoke City, where he will stay until the end of the season. The 25-year-old has struggled in his time away from Old Trafford, making only five appearances for the Potters, who are currently thirteenth in the table. Shoretire also departed United, joining League One club Bolton Wanderers on a short-term contract. The striker has made 12 appearances for the Trotters but has yet to find the back of the net. Jones, Mendi, and Williams, on the other hand, chose to defy Ten Hag's decision and stay at United, although this hasn't worked out well for any of them, with only the latter making a single first-team appearance this season. Mendi and Williams still have time on their side, and even if they don't win over Ten Hag, they can have prosperous careers elsewhere. Jones, on the other hand, is nearing the end of his career at the age of 31 and with only three months left on his Manchester United deal. Former Red Devils defender Paul Parker was recently questioned if he believes Jones has a future outside of the club, and he claimed the centre-back couldn't even make it in the Championship right now. "His contract expires this summer, and he needs to decide whether he wants to retire - or continue playing," Parker told Bettors. He has spent many years having fun with a club he enjoys, with a large salary as a bonus, but now he has go on. "Any club that signs him will have to work extremely hard with him." His muscles aren't as powerful as they once were, and playing in the Championship needs a lot of effort. That's a really tough league, and I don't think he's at that level to be completely honest. "However, he must keep in mind that a new club will ask him to play games." Is he willing to do so? That's something I'm not sure of. I'm not convinced he has the passion, ambition, and desire to play and risk another injury by throwing himself into reckless tackles."
