Man Utd set to finalise agreement for January signing of thrilling attacker who could give Ten Hag double guarantee

According to rumors, Manchester United is moving closer to signing in-form Dutch forward Cody Gakpo in January.

Gakpo has been in outstanding form for PSV Eindhoven this season, tallying 13 goals and 16 assists in 22 appearances across all competitions. He has mostly played as a left winger, but he can also play up front.

Gakpo, who is only 23 years old, would be an interesting prospect to invest in. Being able to contribute both goals and assists would make him highly valuable.

During the summer transfer window, he was already on the radar of a few Premier League clubs. Leeds United and Southampton were among the clubs interested in signing the Netherlands international. They did, however, miss out, and the Gakpo ship may have sailed for clubs of their stature.

The winger is drawing more elite teams, with Manchester United remaining one of his key suitors. They are, of course, no strangers to the Eredivisie market since Erik ten Hag took over as manager.

During the summer, Ten Hag recruited Antony and Lisandro Martinez from Ajax. He also approached Feyenoord about collaborating with Tyrell Malacia.

Gakpo, who has recently piqued the curiosity of Barcelona, might be next on the agenda.

However, according to SportItalia journalist Rudy Galetti, Manchester United is ready to move forward with their interest in Gakpo in light of the January transfer window.

Galetti claims that the Red Devils are already planning what they would do during the winter market.

In that sense, they are “ready to finalize an agreement” with PSV for the sale of Gakpo, who may join Manchester United “soon.”

The article does not specify how much the transfer will cost Manchester United, nor how long Gakpo’s contract will continue at Old Trafford.

However, there appears to be rising hope that Gakpo may join Manchester United in the near future.

Man United is hoping to sign Cody Gakpo.
He would be joining a team that had just won a play-off tie to advance to the Europa League’s last 16. Domestically, Manchester United is vying for a top-four finish in order to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Gakpo played in the Champions League qualifiers with PSV this season before being relegated to the Europa League. He has three goals in five games this season in that competition.

PSV, like Manchester United, finished second in their group and will have to go through the playoffs to advance to the round of 16.

Gakpo must decide what is best for his growth in a number of similar circumstances this season. Manchester United is obviously a great club, therefore he should seriously consider joining them.

He’d be battling for a spot on the left wing with Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho. Rashford has been in terrific form this season, so it should be a fun clash.

Manchester United, on the other hand, wants to re-establish itself as a destination for great players. As a result, they will be hoping to persuade someone like Gakpo to add to their depth.

A signing like him could offer them something to look forward to in the second half of the season.
