Manchester United hero Rio Ferdinand has urged Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham to join his former club and make it his ‘home’. Numerous clubs are interested in the playmaker, including Liverpool, with Anfield thought to be a more likely destination than United at present.

After a summer of chasing Frenkie de Jong, it is no secret that Erik ten Hag is not content with his overall midfield options. Casemiro and Christian Eriksen both arrived ahead of the start of the season, though they have not plugged all of the Red Devils’ holes in the centre of the park it appears.

United are long-term admirers of Bellingham and remain interested in acquiring his services in 2023, having failed to land his signature prior to the teenager joining Dortmund from Birmingham City in 2020. Though they face competition from rivals Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool in the race to sign the 19-year-old.

In an attempt to persuade the midfielder to overlook the other potential options, Ferdinand has sent Bellingham a message on his Vibe With Five YouTube channel. He said: “Jude Bellingham has been a phenomenon at the World Cup.

“He has got so much growth, room for improvement still, but he absolutely influenced games in an England shirt like we’ve never seen a teenager do for England. Manchester United, bring him here. Make that your home, Jude.

“You come and help change shift the culture and take the club to the heights it should be at! He’s been flying the flag abroad, he’s done his bit in Germany, it’s time to come home baby.”
