Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s recent strategic maneuver in the Manchester United takeover saga could potentially trigger a favorable response from Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, bringing the battle closer to an end.

The British billionaire is reported to have met the valuation set by the United Owners, which may prompt a positive reaction from Sheikh Jassim.

According to The Times, the Glazers are contemplating a revised offer from Ratcliffe for a 25 percent stake in the club valued at £1.5 billion.

Ratcliffe’s initial bid, which was approximately £5 billion for the Glazers’ 67 percent stake, met their substantial asking price, considering that they reportedly value the entire club at £6 billion.

However, due to Avram and Joel Glazer’s reluctance to sell, Ratcliffe’s new approach of accepting a minority stake with the possibility of a phased full takeover in the future might be more appealing.

Sheikh Jassim is said to have offered £5 billion for a complete 100 percent ownership of the club and has shown little flexibility on what is already a high price.

Reports suggest that Sheikh Jassim remains skeptical of Ratcliffe’s recent strategy, viewing it as another tactic to generate competition between the bidders.

If Ratcliffe’s revised approach begins to sway the Glazers, it could prompt a response that brings the takeover saga to a conclusion.

GiveMeSport reports that the only factor that might elicit a reaction from Sheikh Jassim is the threat of the Glazer family considering Ratcliffe’s minority investment.

Sheikh Jassim is reportedly only interested in a complete sale, which means any response would likely have to match the £6 billion asking price to convince the Glazers to favor him over his rival.

If he meets this asking price, the Glazers might be tempted to end their contentious 18-year ownership of Manchester United.

Anything less, and the Glazers are likely to view Ratcliffe, who offers an initial 25 percent stake worth as much as £1.5 billion, as the preferred bidder.

The Glazers are reportedly hesitant to agree to a sale now because they anticipate that increased Saudi Arabian investment in football will raise the club’s value.

Considering this, the Glazer siblings may hope that the eventual payment from Ratcliffe for a majority stake will exceed £6 billion.

While it remains unconfirmed whether Ratcliffe has officially submitted an offer for a minority stake, the Glazers seem content to wait, having delayed a decision for almost a year.

However, if an ultimatum were presented to Sheikh Jassim, forcing him to respond to a new minority bid or risk losing out on becoming United’s new owner, the situation would shift decisively in his favor.
