Following Manchester United’s humiliating loss at Arsenal, David de Gea has broken his silence.

Mikel Arteta’s side won 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium, boosting their prospects of qualifying for the Champions League. After Cristiano Ronaldo’s effort was narrowly adjudged to be offside by VAR, Bruno Fernandes missed from the spot, and a series of controversial refereeing decisions, United will feel hard done by to leave the capital empty-handed.

When Granit Xhaka’s shot sailed past De Gea for the game’s third goal, there were concerns that Eddie Nketiah was interfering with play because he was in De Gea’s line of sight. Xhaka’s goal came at an inopportune time for United, who appeared to be gaining the upper hand over their opponents.

“I’m always honest, today we could have gotten more from this game but in this season we are where we deserve to be,” De Gea posted on social media after the loss.

United now appears to have too much work ahead of them to claw their way back into fourth position. Their next match is against Chelsea on Thursday at Old Trafford.
