THE DETAILS: WAN-BISSAKA’S MINI-RESURRECTION

Earlier in the season, the 25-year-old had entirely lost his spot in the team to Diogo Dalot, but the latter’s injury has given him more playing time.

Wan-Bissaka has made 17 appearances for United since the 2022 World Cup, nine of which have been full 90 minutes, and he impressed in the second half of the EFL Cup final win over Newcastle United on Sunday.

Despite this, the defender has recently been linked with a transfer away from Old Trafford, since his current deal expires at the end of next season.

THE MOST RECENT: TEN HAG NOT A FAN?

McAvennie told Football Insider that Wan-Bissaka will leave United during the summer transfer window and that Erik ten Hag’s fondness for Dalot may be a factor:

“I believe so. I believe his fans are dissatisfied with him. He hasn’t set fire to the heather, he comes in and is sluggish.

“I believe he can do better than he has been doing. I’m not sure if this has anything to do with the manager’s lack of faith in him.

“There will be some movement. There will be a few who will leave, and it is time for a change. Ten Hag has rekindled their interest in Manchester United.”

Wan-Bissaka is a talented player – Marcus Rashford described him as “massively vital” – but he is limited in too many facets of his game, and Ten Hag has to bring in a superior challenger to Dalot, who has only registered 11 assists in 144 games for the Red Devils.
