The Red Devils agreed to a £900 million contract extension with the German sportswear company earlier this month.

Both parties agreed to a 10-year contract renewal worth £90 million per season, which is £15 million higher than their prior agreement.

The value of United’s new Adidas contract is a Premier League record for a kit manufacturer arrangement.

Their previous arrangement was worth £75 million per year, but a stipulation in the contract stipulated that if United failed to qualify for the Champions League in consecutive years, the cost would be reduced by 30% (£22.5 million).

According to Football Insider, a similar Champions League condition exists in the new £900 million deal.

If the Red Devils fail to qualify for the tournament for the next two seasons, the value of their Adidas relationship will be reduced by £27 million.

Adidas took over as Manchester United’s kit maker from Nike in the 2015/16 season and moved rapidly to extend their contract with the club this summer.

If United did to qualify for the Champions League in 2022/23, the value of their Adidas contract would fall.

However, Erik ten Hag’s squad finished third in the Premier League last season, qualifying for the renowned European tournament and retaining the value of the Adidas contract.

When the Champions League draw takes place on August 31, United will learn who their group-stage opponents will be.
