The club have spent big this summer, with Antony, Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, Lisandro Martinez and Casemiro all signed permanently, while Martin Dubravka has gone on a season-long loan to Old Trafford from Newcastle United.

A recent report suggests Ten Hag will receive up to £70m in the January transfer window, while the budget would rise to more than £100m if Cristiano Ronaldo left the club.

The Red Devils beat Sheriff Tiraspol 2-0 in the Europa League on Thursday night, and the team will not return to action until early October against Man City.

The 20-time English champions were due to face Leeds United in the league this weekend, but the game was postponed due to the logistics of Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral.

Ten Hag said “these types of breaks” are “useful” for the team, and the Dutchman revealed that transfer meetings will take place this month in preparation for possible spending in the January transfer window.

“Always taking advantage of these breaks [is] useful,” Ten Hag told MUTV. “We have a lot of meetings, we need to improve the structures in and around the club, we will do that.

“We will also look already at the January window or next summer, but also to improve the way we play by making plans and of course this upcoming period with every three days a game, we have to prepare for that.”

“The players: 90% are out, the rest will train properly and for the rest we have to prepare very well and I hope that everybody will stay fit, come back, come back healthy and we have to come on the attack.”
