Manchester United and Ajax are thought to have agreed on a deal for Lisandro Martinez.
It was confirmed by transfer guru Fabrizio Romano himself, who just tweeted:
“Here we go, Lisandro Martnez to Manchester United!”
“A full agreement has been reached between Manchester United and Ajax for a sum worth up to €55 million.” Lisandro will sign until 2027, and the documents have been approved.”
“Deal done – the critical step was the meeting in Amsterdam on Wednesday.” Ten Hag is a significant factor.”
The Athletic had claimed that United was working hard to complete this transaction.
Martinez is thought to desire to return to the Premier League and reunite with former manager Erik ten Hag.
Arsenal was intrigued, but the player wishes to join Manchester United.
United’s previous bid of €45 million, including add-ons, was less than Ajax’s appraisal.
The Red Devils have now agreed to a €55 million contract.
Ten Hag will be overjoyed to have his guy, who will fit right in with the Dutchman’s system.
Martinez’s adaptability will be critical as United experiments with different formations.
The Argentine is a natural leader both on and off the field, and he would assist in command of the defense.
United fans will also be thrilled to have gotten one over on rivals Arsenal, who were also rumored to be very interested in the 24-year-old.
Martinez will be looking for international clearance so that he can travel to Australia for the pre-season tour.
