With an unexpected title push in La Liga on the horizon, it appeared to be a thrilling transfer for the forward who had been largely frozen out at United.

However, the Frenchman has only made six La Liga appearances thus far and has yet to score a league goal.

He has only scored once since joining Sevilla, in a 3-1 Europa League win over Dynamo Zagreb, although he was unable to prevent them from being eliminated from the competition by West Ham.

Martial did suffer an injury in February that forced him to miss nearly three weeks, but he has yet to rediscover his former form when fit, and Sevilla seem uninterested in keeping him beyond his current contract.

According to Marca, the situation has gotten ‘worse’ and Sevilla will not pursue the idea of Martial continuing with the club next season.

The France international’s contract at Old Trafford runs until 2024, and his future at the club will be determined by the new manager’s view, which will be announced in the summer.

Martial and Marcus Rashford’s futures are uncertain, and Edinson Cavani is poised to go, so whomever takes over as manager of the Red Devils will have some significant decisions to make about the team’s front line.

Since joining Manchester United from Monaco in 2015 for a deal that may have reached £58 million, Martial has scored 79 goals in 269 games.
