BREAKING – Cristiano Ronaldo charged with improper conduct by FA after smashing fan’s phone
The Football Association has charged Manchester United player Cristiano Ronaldo with improper conduct for smashing a teenage fan's phone on the ground following a defeat at Everton last season.
Ronaldo, 37, apologized to the 14-year-old fan on social media following the incident, which occurred during United’s 1-0 loss at Goodison Park in April.
The FA announced in a statement, “Cristiano Ronaldo has been charged with a breach of FA Rule E3 for an incident that occurred following Manchester United FC’s Premier League match against Everton FC on Saturday 9 April 2022.”
“It is claimed that the forward’s behavior following the final whistle was unprofessional and/or violent.”
United stated that they will back Ronaldo in his answer to the charge.
The police warned the Portuguese striker, who is now on Nations League duty with his team, about the incident in August.
As he moved down the tunnel, Ronaldo looked to furiously swat the phone out of the boy’s hand.
The boy’s mother reported that he had a bruised hand and that the screen of his phone had been damaged.
