Marcus Rashford Shares Insights on Private Discussions with Manchester United’s New Signing Rasmus Hojlund

Manchester United’s forward, Marcus Rashford, has been dedicating extra time behind the scenes to build a connection with the club’s recent acquisition, Rasmus Hojlund.

Rashford has been collaborating closely with Manchester United’s new addition, Rasmus Hojlund. The 20-year-old Hojlund, who arrived in a high-profile £72 million transfer from Atalanta, was Erik ten Hag’s primary target as a striker.

The Danish international’s role will be to alleviate the goal-scoring responsibilities on Rashford, who was the top scorer for United last season.

Having occasionally played as a No.9 during the 2022/23 season, Rashford is eager to join forces with Hojlund from his preferred position on the left-wing.

The Old Trafford academy graduate has disclosed that he’s been putting in additional effort with his new strike partner away from the public eye.

In an interview with Manunited.com, Rashford shared his enthusiasm about Hojlund’s arrival, stating, “I’m extremely excited about it.

There were instances last year, particularly during counter-attacks, where only the cutback to Bruno [Fernandes] was an option, as he was arriving later. This year, the dynamics have changed.

“We’ve been communicating with each other and doing a lot of work off the field, possibly things that the coaching staff aren’t even aware of, as it’s just between him and me.

I want to comprehend his style of play, and he wants to understand mine as soon as possible. So far, I believe it’s been positive.

“I’m confident that this partnership will benefit both of us. I’m looking forward to it and to the future. I’m thrilled that we have numerous upcoming matches, providing us with ample opportunities to showcase our abilities.”

Hojlund, who had joined Atalanta from Sturm Graz just last summer, attracted the attention of several top European clubs after scoring nine goals in 32 appearances for the Serie A side.

Ten Hag has already emphasized that Hojlund’s ability to make runs behind the defense and his physical presence will add a new dimension to Manchester United’s attack.

Rashford is excited about how Hojlund’s attributes could positively impact the team’s performance moving forward.

Rashford further explained, “The pace at which we can launch attacks is now completely different. Whether I’m deployed as a left striker or we’re playing with two forwards, my offensive responsibilities don’t change significantly.

“It’s all about having the confidence that when you make a run in behind, someone on the opposite side is also making that move.

Hopefully, we’ll reach a point where you don’t even need to search for him; you can simply put the ball in an area, knowing he’ll be in the vicinity.

“He’s a robust, physical player with excellent finishing abilities, so when opportunities come his way, he’ll find the back of the net.”
