A transfer to West Ham for Harry Maguire appears to be dead in the water, while a move to Real Sociedad for Donny van de Beek has stagnated.

The former now appears eager to stay at the club and compete for a starting spot, but the latter needs to leave in the current window in order to receive considerable game experience elsewhere.

The agreement for van de Beek has been holding up any move for Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat, but the Serie A club expects things to go fast now, according to La Nazione.

According to the report, the Dutchman is about to be sold, which means that talks between United and Fiorentina could heat up.

Any bid less than €25 million is likely to be rejected, as the Italian club is said to be unwilling to accept anything less.

At this late stage in the transfer season, it appears to be a churlish exercise to be haggling over a few euros here and there, so the transaction might be completed reasonably swiftly once the club re-establish communication.

It’s unclear whether that will be Erik Ten Hag’s final signing of the window, but even if it is, he can look back on a productive summer in terms of team development.
