Scott McTominay has spoken out about one great trait Erik ten Hag has already demonstrated since taking over at Manchester United, which Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has always battled with.

Ten Hag, a former Ajax player, is presently on his first pre-season tour as manager of the Red Devils in Thailand before the group departs for Australia in the coming days. It has given the 52-year-old a genuine opportunity to bond with his new recruits before they attempt to recover from the horror show that was last season.

McTominay shared insight on his experiences with the new manager thus far and underlined one essential attribute Ten Hag is already excelling at, ahead of their first summer friendly against long-time rivals Liverpool.

“He’s got a vision of how he wants to play, and he executes it really, very effectively in terms of communicating with the players,” McTominay said.

“The same is true for [assistant coach] Mitchell [van der Gaag]. For us, the concept and ideas of the style of play are apparent. It’s now up to us as players to really take the message to heart and push with everything we’ve got during the season.”

United fans will be relieved by McTominay’s initial evaluation of the incoming manager, given that Solskjaer’s apparent failure to convey his message as succinctly as possible cost the Norwegian so many points and ultimately his job as Red Devils manager.

According to certain sources, United players had reservations about Solskjaer’s tactical acumen for as long as two years before his dismissal in November 2021.

Key players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes, and club captain Harry Maguire were three significant personalities who met with the former Red Devils manager to discuss how to climb out of the rut they were in.

In stark contrast, McTominay’s favorable assessment of the new guy in charge did not end there. He urged everyone affiliated with the club to be optimistic, citing the positive impact the new coaches had already had on the players.

“The moment to be optimistic is now,” the Scotland international told United Daily. “We’re incredibly excited about what’s to come because the way the coaches have presented their ideas to all of the players and staff is really promising.”

Ten Hag is said to have already drafted a list of new restrictions for United’s players, including a prohibition on private chefs and a requirement that individuals communicate complaints with Ten Hag directly rather than through their agents or the media.
