Erik Ten Hag is looking for a priority Eredivisie double swoop to bolster Manchester United’s squad.

Erik ten Hag is looking to make a double signing from the Dutch top division and has identified Gakpo and Antony as potential targets before the transfer window closes, with both capable of making an immediate impact on the Red Devils’ frontline.

Cody Gakpo Wants to Leave United As They Compete in the Premier League

“Manchester United are considering Cody Gakpo internally, he’d enjoy a Premier League move,” says Fabrizio Romano.

“Gakpo is on the list, along with priority target Antony – no official bid yet.” Being on this list alongside Antony demonstrates how seriously the Red Devils are considering a move for Gakpo.

Gakpo is quickly becoming one of Europe’s most sought-after players this summer, with Manchester United and Leeds United lately joining the list of suitors.

With the forward keen on a move to England, United will need to make a move fast if they want to capture him before the transfer window ends in September.

The fact that Gakpo is presently playing under a United great, former striker and prolific goalscorer Ruud van Nistelrooy, may tip the scales in Manchester’s favor. His team has estimated that its star is worth at least £35 million.

Gakpo scored 12 goals and assisted 13 more in the Eredivisie last season, his most successful season to date. As a result, the teenager was named Dutch Footballer of the Year. On Saturday, July 30, he won the KNVB Cup and scored in the Johan Cruyff Shield final.

The 23-year-old has started the new season in a similar fashion, scoring twice in PSV’s first game. He has also played for the Netherlands in World Cup qualifying and the Euro 2020 campaign.
