Since joining United from AS Monaco in 2015, Martial, 27, has struggled to live up to expectations at Old Trafford. The Frenchman has been troubled by injuries during his time in the Premier League, and as a result, he has been unable to consistently push his way into Erik Ten Hag’s team.

According to Mirror Football, Ten Hag is planning a massive squad revamps in the summer, with a number of key talents, including Martial, slated to be transferred.

And Sheringham, a member of the legendary 1999 treble-winning squad, believes it is time for United to cut their losses on Martial. Sheringham stated of Lord Ping, “He’s a talented player.” I don’t believe he’s reached his full potential at Manchester United. I’m not sure which position he should play – winger or number nine? We know he can challenge players.

“After eight years at the club, there are some questions about him.” If Manchester United fans are still asking concerns about him after eight years, I don’t think it would be a tremendous loss to see him leave in the summer.”

Although Martial has failed to impress during his time at Manchester United, the versatile forward is a favorite of club co-owner Joel Glazer, who even intervened to prevent former manager Jose Mourinho from selling him during his tenure at Old Trafford.

It remains to be seen whether Glazer or any of his siblings will continue at the club in the long run. Following three rounds of bids, the United owners must now decide whether or not to sell the club completely after receiving interest from several parties.

Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe, CEO of Ineos, are two of the primary players in the race to buy United. Despite indicating that they were prepared to step down after 18 years in charge, it has been speculated that Joel and his brother, Avram, may try to stay on by retaining a minority stake in the club. According to recent reports, Ratcliffe, a lifetime Manchester United fan, would offer them the option to do just that.

Ten Hag believes that funds will be available to bring in a top No.9 ahead of the 2023/24 season, regardless of who is in charge at Old Trafford. The Dutchman is thought to be interested in Harry Kane and Napoli attacker Victor Osimhen.
