Ten Hag has already revealed how he will react to Casemiro suspension as Man Utd star set for long ban

Manchester United’s Casemiro is facing a lengthy suspension after being awarded a straight red card against Southampton, and manager Erik ten Hag has already expressed his displeasure with the suspension of one of his important players.

After a VAR review, referee Anthony Taylor gave the Brazilian his marching orders for a hard tackle on Saints midfielder Carlos Alcaraz.

Despite the fact that replays indicated the 31-year-old won the ball, VAR considered the tackle a red card offense due to the height at which the midfielder collided with his opponent and the fact that Casemiro’s boot went over the ball.

He will now miss the following four games if United’s petition to have the red card reversed is unsuccessful.

The Brazilian will miss games against Fulham (FA Cup), Newcastle, Brentford, and Everton (all Premier League).

The red card is a big setback for Ten Hag’s side, which was already limited to a 0-0 draw against the league’s worst side.

The Dutchman, on the other hand, has already stated his position on Casemiro’s recent punishment.

Ten Hag takes a firm position on Casemiro’s suspension.
During Casemiro’s previous suspension – a three-match ban after getting sent off against Crystal Palace in February – Ten Hag declared that the Brazilian’s absence would not be used as an excuse.

He also mentioned how his absence would provide possibilities for other members of the squad.

“I always have to play with the guys who are available, and we have a squad,” Ten Hag remarked (via talkSPORT). We have a lot of good players on our roster who aren’t starting, so I have to do it.

“I can’t say after a game, ‘Casemiro isn’t there, Anthony Martial isn’t there,'” he says. We must triumph. United is capable, and we must win games regardless of who is on the field.”

Potential substitutes for the Brazilian include Fred and Scott McTominay, although United will be hoping that Marcel Sabitzer returns shortly after missing the Southampton game with an injury.

With Christian Eriksen and Donny van de Beek both out, Ten Hag will face some difficult decisions, especially if any of their other fully fit midfielders suffer injuries or suspensions before Casemiro returns.
