The Netherlands Under-21s international joined United in 2016, originally joining the Under-18s before missing 10 months of the 2016/17 season due to a major injury.

Chong rose through the ranks and earned the Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year award in 2018 after an outstanding season across United’s various age groups, including a debut goal for the Under-23s against Tottenham Hotspur.

Former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gave Chong his senior United debut in the FA Cup victory over Reading on January 5, 2019.

After winning the Jimmy Murphy trophy, he became the first player since Giuseppe Rossi to win the Denzil Haroun Reserve Team Player of the Year title in the same season.

During the 2020/21 season, Chong received significant first-team experience on loan to Werder Bremen and then Club Brugge. He later joined Birmingham on loan last year, but his progress was hampered by a catastrophic groin injury in November.

Tahith appeared in 16 first-team games for the Reds, as well as pre-season friendlies against Melbourne Victory, Aston Villa, and Rayo Vallecano this summer.

The 22-year-old will now return to St. Andrews, where a permanent contract will allow him to display his skills in the Championship.

We’d want to take this opportunity to thank Tahith for his contributions to United and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.
