Following a season in which he led United to victory in the Youth Cup and made his first-team debut, the 17-year-old is expected to sign a new contract that will reflect his growing importance at the club.

Garnacho was also called up to the Argentine national team, and is currently viewed as a possible wildcard selection for the country’s World Cup squad in Qatar at the end of the year.

According to the Manchester Evening News, talks over a new deal are going well, with United ready to reward their latest academy hero for his growth over the past year.

Garnacho only signed his first professional contract when he turned 17 in July of last year, and it was for the next five years, despite previous stories incorrectly claiming he will be out of contract next year.

Given how well he has performed in recent months, United sources concede they are not shocked by the considerable degree of interest being shown in the teenager, with Juventus the latest team linked with him.

Garnacho joined United for £420,000 from Atletico Madrid in 2020, as part of a recruitment push that saw the club buy three quality Spanish players. Marc Jurado and Alvaro Fernandez arrived from Barcelona and Real Madrid, respectively.

Garnacho, who played for Spain as a kid but is eligible for Argentina because of his mother, turned down a Borussia Dortmund chance to join United two years ago.

This summer, the winger is likely to be part of United’s pre-season tour team, when he will have the opportunity to impress new manager Erik ten Hag.

Garnacho was voted United’s U18 Player of the Year last month, following in the footsteps of prior winners Anthony Elanga, Marcus Rashford, and Angel Gomes.
